The main software when using the computer is the operating system. The operating system defines all the experiences when using a computer; it manages the hardware and software resources of the computer system, provides a way for applications to deal with the hardware without having to know all the details of the hardware, and it is the software that makes all the programs work. It organizes and controls the hardware on computers. The operating system is the first software we see when we turn on the computer, and the last software we see when the computer is turned off.
The operating system plays the role of the good parent, making sure that each application gets the necessary resources while playing nicely with all the other applications, as well as husbanding the limited capacity of the system for the greatest good of all the users and applications. Even if a particular computer is unique, an operating system can ensure that applications continue to run when hardware upgrades and updates occur.

Mrs. G. Sreehitha Reddy is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) at School of Engineering & Technology, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati, India. She has 3 years of experience in teaching. She completed B.Tech in JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur, and M.Tech in S.V University, Tirupati, India. She guided several students towards research paper writing & mentored some funded projects. She taught many core computer science courses to students. She attended various workshops, seminars and FDPs. She is an academician and mentor to students. Her research interests include networks, IOT and machine learning.
Mr. K. Reddy Pradeep works in S.V. University, Tirupati. He formerly worked as an assistant professor in the Department of CSE at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE), Tirupati, India. Initially, he worked as an IT analyst at Accenture, Chennai. He has 3 years of experience in teaching. He completed B.Tech in JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur, and M.Tech in S.V University, Tirupati, India. He published various research papers & presented many papers at national conferences. He organized various tests at SV Engineering College for Women offered by the Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay, funded by National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India. He is a life member of CSI, ISTE, IACSIT and IAENG. His research interests include networks, IOT and machine learning.
