According to Population Census 2011 there are nearly
104 million elderly persons (aged 60 years or above)
in India; 53 million females and 51 million males. A
report released by the United Nations Population Fund
and Help Age India suggests that the number
of elderly persons is expected to grow to 173 million by
2026.
 The cost-norms of Integrated Programmed for Older
Persons (IPOP) Scheme implemented by Ministry of Social
Justice and Empowerment has been revised i.e. 01-04-
2015. The average increase in cost norm ranges between
70-110%.
 According to Population Census 2011 there are nearly
104 million elderly persons (aged 60 years or above) in
India; 53 million females and 51 million males.
 Both the share and size of elderly population is increasing
over time. From 5.6% in 1961 the proportion has increased
to 8.6% in 2011. For males it was marginally lower at 8.2%,
while for females it was 9.0%. As regards rural and urban
areas, 71% of elderly population resides in rural areas while
29 % is in urban areas.

After passing B.Sc., Dr. Sinha joined St. Michaels High
School, Patna. After serving for two years, he felt the pitiable
condition of primary education in Bihar. He resigned and
started the first private-public school in the year 1960.
Visualizing the problem of unemployment of educated youth
and lack of quality education in Bihar and Jharkhand. A
movement was started to motivate educated youth to open
Private schools in their own locality. In Patna, Training
Centre was opened and educated youth were trained on
"HOW TO OPEN PRIVATE SCHOOLS" and give quality
education to illiterate children. In this movement, Public
(Guardians) had shown their interest and cooperated in
opening schools and thus the movement led by Dr. Sinha
got its momentum. In this survey, it was found that very few
mission schools were running for the children of rich people
and govt. Schools were not catering a huge population of
children. From the year 1960, constant labor was done
which resulted in lakhs of children going to private school
and getting quality education, a large number of educated
unemployed youth got self- employed and many unskilled
workers got employments as Peon, Rickshaw Drivers,
Maids etc
