Umesh Behari Mathur
Umesh Behari Mathur was born Uttar Pradesh, India. For twenty formative years, he lived in Lucknow. He now lives with his son and family at Bengaluru. He retired in 1998 from the Geological Survey of India as Deputy Director General after a distinguished service of 36 years. He has published more than 60 research papers on various aspects of geology. A National Mineral Awardee, he was National Convener and on the Working Group of UNESCO sponsored international projects on climate changes and sea-level changes for ten years. After superannuation, he published two scientific memoirs, four illustrated books in English and Hindi, on dinosaurs and climate change, meant for popularizing Earth Science among the masses. He has lectured in educational institutions, workshops and seminars on varied subjects like fossils, dinosaurs, climate change, sea-level changes, geoheritage, etc. He was honored for his contribution to Hindi by Rajasthan Hindi Granth Academy, Jaipur on 14th August, 2019.
