The intergovernmental body, World health organization (WHO) characterized the self-care as one’s own ability to overcome health disorders by preventing diseases and maintaining well-being. Many principles of self-care are mentioned in Yoga and Ayurveda. People can achieve health ylife by employing self-care using yogic postures (Asana), pranayama, mudra, bandha, shatkriya, and yogic diet (preferably sattvik). These practices are mentioned in hatha yoga texts and considered to be self-paced practices could play precious role to enhance overall health. The few strategies, principles, and techniques are also mentioned in traditional yoga texts viz. Patanjala yoga sutra, yoga vashistha, and other. In the same way, people can achieve ahealthy long life by following the principles of Ayurveda i.e. Dinacharya (daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), Sadvritta (codes of conduct), Ahara Vidhi Vidhan (Dietary regimen) etc. These two health disciplines that have been discovered by Indian sages and many of them aid knowledge to yoga-Ayurveda. The interrelationship of each of them with the other is clearly visible. Yoga and Ayurveda appear to be precious science for taking care of health by own. These two disciplines stand as holistic health technique that covers entire body, mind and soul.
