This novel explains the situation of Gaza taking an 8-year old boy, Ahmed Qaradawi,as the protagonist of the novel. He, along with his family, struggles to find peace with bombs falling all around them. He befriends another young boy named Ali, and the novel follows their journey, which is filled with loss and blood. The story follows Ali, Ahmed and his family as they move from one place to another, struggling to conjure up something to eat, a roof to live under or clothes to wear that aren't ridden with blood that is either your own or of someone close to you. Ahmed, an 8 year old boy learns to be a man. A child who should have been home playing with toys, safe, with his parents, is forced to learn to deal with loss and become an adult.

Ramsha Rais, daughter of Md. Rais and Shahnaz Salam, was born on 11th February 2007. She lives in Kolkata, India. She was just 9 years old when she started writing stories and her first book 'Fired' was published when she was 13. She wrote and published her second book, "The door to the stars" at 14 and 'The Howling Alpha' series of two when she was 16. 'Tears of the innocent' is her fifth book, at the age of 17.
