The Devil's Workshop Musings of an Idle Mind

Author Name: J.T. Nayaham | Format: Paperback | Genre : Literature & Fiction | Other Details

“A short story

is a different thing altogether.

A short story

is like a quick kiss in the dark from a stranger.”

– Stephen King

The Devil’s Workshop is a collection of short stories, each uniquely different, each distinctively dissimilar… yet they blend together to offer a scrumptious buffet guaranteed to satisfy the most fastidious of readers.

The ‘recipe’ includes a copious quantity of humour, a large dollop of the supernatural, a generous measure of romance, a dash of mystery, a pinch of passion, a sprinkling of sentimentality, a grain of truth, a tinge of sympathy and just a touch of eroticism.

All these ingredients have been marinated in nostalgia, simmered in a large cauldron of memories, seasoned with a mixture of emotions, garnished with tenderness and served with an abundance of love.

This exotic combination of flavours will undoubtedly satiate even the most discerning of palates, and the taste will continue to linger – long after it has been consumed!

J.T. Nayaham

Born in 1945, the author grew up in Bengaluru. He passed the Senior Cambridge Examination from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and then graduated from St. Joseph’s College with an Arts degree.

Obsessed with aviation since early childhood, he joined the Indian Air Force and was commissioned in 1967. He served in some of the remotest corners of the country during his days in uniform.

As an operational helicopter pilot, he took part in the 1971 war with Pakistan and was part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka. He opted for Voluntary Retirement from the Air Force as a Wing Commander in 1990.

Post-retirement, he has been a regular contributor to several aviation publications as well as to newspapers. His hobbies include singing and recording country music, sketching, cooking and photography.

The Devil’s Workshop is his first book to be published and is a compilation of short stories written by him. A few of the stories borrow situations from his life in the Air Force, others hint of the mysterious and the supernatural and the rest are generously suffused with humour.

Wing Commander JT (Jaytee) Nayaham and his wife Zarine live in Bengaluru.
