The author is a Scientist- turned- Engineer with 60 years of experience in industry, including Railway, BHEL and running his own SSI. He has about 2 decades of experience in Technical Training. In Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.(BHEL), he was in HRDC for 10 years, Industrial Engineer for 7 years, and last 8 years, as In-charge of Prototype Development Centre, a specially created workshop by BHEL Management, on his proposal to develop Import Substitutes and low cost technologies.
He won 4 patents & 2 Design Registrations. He also received Grant -in -Aid from National Research & Development Council for developing one of his projects.
His two decades of efforts in mastering the Value Engineering(VE) techniques culminated in acquiring the most coveted professional certificate in VE, Viz., “CERTIFIED VALUE SPECIALIST (CVS) from Society of American Value Engineers (SAVE), in 1988.
After retiring from 33 years of service, Mr. R.G.Chaudhari started his own Small Scale Industry (SSI) and managed it single handedly and very successfully, for 27 years, with 5 to 8 workers--no supervisor, no Engineer and no clerk. He started manufacturing Import Substitutes. Subsequently, many new Technologies, Products and Projects (including one big project for BHEL R & D Division), were developed/ successfully completed.
Quality was his watchword. In 2010, his firm won the ‘Best Vendor Award’ from BHEL, Hyderabad.
Saved millions of Rupees in precious Foreign Exchange for the nation and earned handsome profits for the self (and the workers too)--thanks to Value Engineering and Creativity.
Techniques of Training in Value Engineering and Training Techniques of Creative Problem Solving, are his two books published recently.
