Debajit Deb was born in Silchar, Assam and grew up in the atmosphere of many tribal languages. He has a Master of Philosophy in ‘The Phonology of Rongmei Naga Spoken in Barak Valley’ and a doctorate degree on ‘A Morphosyntactic Study of Rongmei Spoken in Barak Valley’ from Assam University, Silchar. He is interested in languages and cultures of the area. He has spent his time in extensive and comprehensive investigations on some unexplored tribal languages of Northeast India since eight years. He has published many papers in various journals of linguistics and presented many national and international seminars, conferences and workshops. Currently he is engaged in writing other books on Rongmei, and other northeastern languages of India.
