"वैतरणी" परलोक की नदी है जिसे मरने के बाद प्रत्येक जीवात्मा पार करती है | कई हिन्दू धर्मग्रंथों में इस पवित्र नदी का वर्णन मिलता है | पुराण के अनुसार वैतरणी नदी यम के द्वार के पास स्थित है | लोक और परलोक को जोड़ती यह नदी दिव्यता का प्रतीक मानी गयी है |

इस किताब को लिखते समय "वैतरणी" नाम का चयन बहुत पहले ही करलिया था | "वैतरणी" नाम सुनते ही एक दिव्य शक्ति का आभास होता है और स्त्रीत्व का बोध भी | "वैतरणी" मेरी पहली कविता संग्रह है जिसमे मैंने अपने हृदय से निकल रही सभी भावों को पाठकों के सामने रखने का एक बहुत ही अनुभवरहित और छोटा प्रयास किया है | कविताओं को दो मुख्य भागों में विभाजित करके "हलाहल" और "आलिंगन" का नाम दिया है| "हलाहल" भाग के प्रत्येक चित्र मैंने स्वयं बनाए है और "आलिंगन" भाग में तस्वीरों के माध्यम से कुछ अत्यंत खूबसूरत पलों को जीवंत करने की कोशिश की |

"हलाहल" नामानुसार ही मेरे भीतर का विष है | समाज और परिस्थितियों पर मेरा कड़वा और पीड़ित सृजन | इस भाग में मैंने मुख्यतः स्त्रीत्व और मनुष्यता पर प्रकाश डाला है | अपनी रूढ़िमुक्त विचारों को शब्दों के माध्यम से "हलाहल" में अंकित किया है |
दूसरे भाग का नाम "आलिंगन" है | "आलिंगन " बाँहों के घिराव को कहते हैं | इस भाग में मैंने प्रेम पर लिखा है | मेरे अनुसार प्रेम ही ऐसा भाव है जो पूरे ब्रह्माण्ड में सबसे प्रबल है | मैंने अपने जीवन में जिन सभी से प्रेम किया है, उनसब को "आलिंगन" समर्पित है | अच्छे - बुरे दोनों ही वक्त में मुझे सहारा देने वाले प्रत्येक शुभचिंतकों को मेरा आभार |
