श्री अरुण जी के बाल कविता संग्रह ‘लोरी ठिठोली’ की कई कविताओं को मैंने पढ़ा, तो मुझे लगा कि हिंदी साहित्य की अनेक विधाओं में बाल कवि का अरुणोदय हुआ है। बाल साहित्य में उनकी उपस्थित का मैं स्वागत करता हूँ।

लोरी ठिठोली में ‘चैकीदार बनूँगा’ में बड़े देह का अजगर, चैकीदारी का काम करने जिस अंदाज में तैयार होता है वह रोचक है, ‘प्रेरणा’ कविता में न हारे हैं कभी मन से, न तन से.. बच्चों के लिए वाकई प्रेरणास्पद हैं। ‘क्या पापा से कट्टी है’ चन्द्रमा को लेकर जो संवाद बच्चा चाँद से करता है वह अद्भुत है। प्रेरक, संबल सूरज, कविता बच्चों का ज्ञान वर्धन करेंगी। चन्द्रमा पर भी उम्दा कविता है। चन्द्रमा को चांदी सा वैभवशाली बताना नया प्रयोग है। माँ, ममता व करुणामयी होती है, उसका गुस्सा भी कितना मीठा होता है, इस भाव भूमि पर, मम्मी करती मीठा गुस्सा, हर बच्चे को पठनीय लगेगी। माँ से प्यारी नानी है, का तो कहना ही क्या है। अन्य रिश्तों व बिषयों पर भी कविताये बच्चों के मन के करीब की हैं। आचार्य विश्वनाथ के अनुसार ‘वाक्यं रसात्मक काव्यं। पंडित सोहन लाल द्विवेदी कहते थे कि जो बालक के मन की, बालक की भाषा में लिख दे, वही सफल बाल साहित्यकार है। इस दृष्टि से भी मैं श्री अरुण जी को सफल बाल साहित्यकार मानता हूँ। मुझे विश्वास है कि सरल भाषा शैली में लिखी गयीं सभी कविताओं को बच्चे बड़े चाव से पढ़ेंगे व इन्हे प्यारा उपहार मानेगे।

इसे पढ़ते-पढ़ते बच्चों को जीवन में साहस, ईमानदारी और धैर्य के साथ सही मार्ग पर चलने की प्रेरणा तो मिलेगी ही बीच-बीच में आँखें भी नम हुए बिना नहीं रहेंगी। किसी भी रचना के साथ पाठक को भावनात्मक रूप से जोड़ देने की कला, लेखक की सफलता कहलाती है। इस मायने में अभि0 अरुण कुमार जैन का यह बाल उपन्यास अद्भुत, सार्थक एवं उद्देश्य परक है।
