Lajwanti is a love story of a rustic lass of 19th century British-India, victimised by the then zamindari system. As the story goes, she is considered ill-ominous and is thus bartered like a cattle to an inhumane half-haggard zamindar. The zamindar treats her like a machine to produce a male heir for his estate. She undergoes hellish torture, brutal nuptial molestations in that house, until one day when Fate takes mercy on her and brings in Mohan in her life.
