Manjit Rai

The author, Manjit Rai, was born in Pakistan in 1939 (then a part of India). She endured the worst of conditions during the India-Pakistan partition. Her entire family was uprooted from their home and had to travel hundreds of kilometers to the new India. Having lost everything, she started a new life and got married. But life kept throwing challenges at her and one such challenge resulted in her son becoming mentally disabled and eventually dying due to an accident.
