R.K. Sharma received his M.B.B.S. degree in 1965 from the Institute Of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Following the Post Graduate Training in Physiology from the Department of Physiology, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, he received his M.D. degree in 1971. हिन्दी भाषा में शरीर क्रिया विज्ञान को प्रस्तुत करने में सर्वप्रथम महत्व है उपयोग किये गये शब्दों की यथातथ्य बाध्यता (ऐक्यूरसि)। यह वह शब्द है जो साधारणतः उपयोग में आते हैं और जिनका उपयोग पुस्तक में तकनीकी शब्दों के संदर्भ में शारीरिक क्रियाओं के समझने के प्रयत्न में किया गया है। जबकि तकनीकल शब्द जो बहुतायत में अंग्रेजी में हैं प्रस्तुत किये गये हैं देवनागरी लिपी में प्रायः बिना किसी परिवर्तन के। परिणामस्वरूप देवनागरी लिपि में समाहित तकनीकी शब्द तथा जनमान्य शब्द समग्रता में प्रस्तुत हो, विषय को तथ्यपूर्णता प्रदान करते हैं, एक मौलिकता का आभास देते हुए। इसीलिये प्रस्तुति प्रवहमान व गतिशील है।

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">R.K. Sharma received his M.B.B.S. degree in 1965 from the Institute Of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Following the Post Graduate Training in Physiology from the Department of Physiology, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, he received his M.D. degree in 1971. He joined the medical faculty as a Lecturer in the Department of Physiology, IMS, BHU in 1971, rising to the rank of Professor in 1990 and then serving as the Department Head for four years during this period. He served as an examiner and as an expert to several universities. His research interest focus was physiology and pathophysiology of the small intestine in protein calorie malnutrition, heat stress, absorption of amino acids being of particular interest. Later on he worked on intestinal motility, following treatment with anticancer drugs. He has published research in national and international journals. He was awarded Commonwealth Medical Fellowship for the year 1977-78, and worked at the Department of Biochemistry, Oxford University, UK.</span></p>
