Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalThe book consists of eleven Articles covering different sectors of the economy to explain the nature of transition of Indian Economy during the post Colonial period and its current status. Sectorwise analysis has been made. How the transition has been taking place since independence has been discussed in detail covering major aspects of the economy. But focus is on post Globalisation period since the introduction of New Economic Policy in 1991.
In the first part of about fifty years after 1947, India followed a policy of planned strategy with the objectives of Growth, Social Justice and Self sufficiency. Later with the change in the scenario of economy at Global level, India started to pursue the policy of Globalization on the basis of market economy. A regime of decontrol followed. Disinvestment and privatization have started to take place in every sector including the strategic sectors like electronics, aviation, railways, banking, insurance, education, health care etc. Direct foreign investment has been allowed to flow free. Policy of digitisation and demonetisation followed. Strategy of growth is supposed to bring about social justice through a trickling down process. Economic growth is supposed to lay the foundation of Self Reliance, it is claimed.
