Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalTrees of Chandigarh
Rooted in Vision. Blossoming in Beauty.
In Trees of Chandigarh, explore the living green legacy of India’s first planned city. This richly illustrated coffee table book celebrates the extraordinary biodiversity and thoughtful urban forestry that define Chandigarh’s landscape — from its blazing Amaltas avenues and sacred Peepal groves to exotic Baobabs and the quiet grandeur of its heritage trees.
Woven together with insights on architecture, ecology, and cultural heritage, the book is thoughtfully divided into thematic sections — flowering trees, medicinal marvels, sacred species, fruiting companions, rare and seasonal wonders — and even the city’s most iconic gardens. With detailed profiles, local names, bloom calendars, and stunning visuals, each tree tells a story of rootedness, resilience, and reverence.
Whether you're a nature lover, urban planner, student, or simply a curious admirer of green spaces, Trees of Chandigarh offers a refreshing lens into the soul of this unique city — where Le Corbusier’s concrete dreams found shade under the canopy of life.
Let this book be your walking companion through Chandigarh’s tree-lined boulevards, revealing a city that blossoms not just with design, but with deep-rooted harmony between nature and nurture.
