Think Like an Innovator A Practical Guide to Design Thinking

Author Name: Shrutin N Shetty | Format: Paperback | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

A practical guide to solving real problems with design thinking. No prior experience required.
Design thinking has helped companies like IDEO, Airbnb, LEGO, and Spotify create products and services that genuinely improve people's lives. But it isn't reserved for designers or big corporations. It's a mindset and process anyone can learn and apply to challenges at work, at home, and in the world around them.

Think Like an Innovator breaks design thinking into a clear 9-step process. Through real-world examples, practical tools, and hands-on assignments, author Shrutin N Shetty guides you from understanding what makes a challenge worth solving, through research and redefinition, to generating ideas and testing prototypes with real users.

This isn't theory, it's a workbook. You'll select a user group, identify a genuine challenge, and work through the entire process yourself, emerging with both a solution and the skills to tackle future challenges. Downloadable templates included.

You'll learn why humility and empathy are foundational to innovation, research techniques, creativity tools, and how to prototype quickly and affordably.

Shrutin N Shetty

Shrutin N Shetty was born in Bombay, India. A Computer Engineer with an MBA in Finance, he has spent over two decades exploring how businesses grow and how people think, behave and function.

His career has been deliberately varied, from overseeing diner experience at a relative's restaurant, to late-nights at HP's BPO. He was part of an Indian venture capital firm's investment team, before heading western India operations for an industrial robotics company. Each role sharpened a different lens that he now brings to his work in innovation and design strategy.

Since 2012, he has been an independent consultant, guiding young businesses globally. He combines management strategy with human behaviour and design thinking; helping companies build solutions that genuinely serve the people they're meant for.

He is a visiting faculty and jury member at NIFT Mumbai, and has served as an examiner for innovation projects for the QualTech Prize.

His books include Design the Future, an introduction to design thinking, and Main Batata Hoon, a fictional collection of stories exploring amusing, counterintuitive ways in which human behaviour shapes our world. Think Like an Innovator is his step-by-step guide to applying design thinking in practice.

When not consulting or writing, he is working on a line of everyday consumer products designed around real user needs; putting into practice what he asks others to consider.
