Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalTo begin with the history of Sikkim, the process of integration among three different tribes or ethnic groups in Sikkim we realize that there are multiple issues that can lead to conflict, For instance in the past the whole constructive notion of the dilemma of the real inhabitants of Sikkim. If we see at present-day the whole idea of searching for a different identity could also be considered too. Also, we see that issues like the demands for the reservation of seats in the state assembly by the Nepali community can give a rise to feelings of differences among the communities.
But as we can realize that there are multiple ethnic-religious groups in Sikkim who have their own interests irrespective of the groups and try to maintain their identity. This leads us to the idea of “us versus them” and many things which can give rise to ethnic conflict, but still, we find there is the sustenance of peace or there is no violence in a physical manner and ethnic groups of Sikkim lives in harmony, this in a way Sikkim as a multi-ethnic state can be a good model for ensuring peace.
