Vedānta of Śrī Śaṅkarācārya The Philosophy of Advaita

Author Name: Dr. K.S. SIVAKUMAR | Format: Hardcover | Genre : Religion & Spirituality | Other Details

Vedānta of Śrī Śaṅkarācārya: The Philosophy of Advaita – The book presents the timeless wisdom of Śrī Śaṅkarācārya in clear, accessible language, removing the barriers of complex terminology without losing the depth of the philosophy. Śrī Śaṅkara expounds the non-dualistic philosophy of Advaita Vedānta through his commentaries on the foundational three source-scriptures (Prasthānatraya) of the Vedānta, namely, the Upaniṣads, the Brahmasūtra (a commentary on the Upaniṣads), and the Bhagavad Gītā.

Śrī Śaṅkara teaches that Brahman, the Absolute Reality, alone is ultimately real (Satyam); the phenomenal world (Jagat) is illusory (Mithyā); and the individual soul (Jīva) is essentially non-different from Brahman. He emphasizes that liberation (Mokṣa) is attained through the path of knowledge (Jñāna-mārga) of one’s true Self, which is possible even while one is alive (Jīvan-mukti). Advaita is fundamentally a philosophy of standpoints.

This book provides a welcoming and insightful starting point for readers: who are curious about Indian philosophy but are not exposed to the Sanskrit language, who are beginners or students of Indian philosophy, and who are seekers of deeper spiritual perspectives, to explore the universal truth of Advaita Vedānta, as propounded by Śrī Śaṅkara
