A Fire in the Shadows is a deeply personal, thought-provoking collection of poems reflecting
the many emotions one feels, inspired by the author’s own life experiences.
Mona Banerjee
Srilata, or Mona, as she prefers to be called, was encouraged to express herself through her writing from a very young age. Her literary beginnings were with Bengali short stories published in her grandmother Lila Majumdar’s children’s magazine Sandesh.
Despite growing up in a society riddled with gender inequality, Mona was instilled with values that taught her to take pride in being a woman. Her family and teachers encouraged her to be free-thinking, which continues to reflect in her creations, both prose and poetry. Her second release, A Fire in the Shadows, follows her debut novel Patchwork Woman, both published by Notion Press.
