A TEXT BOOK OF ENGINEERING GRAPHICS

Author Name: Dr. C. M. Anand Partheeban | Format: Paperback | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

Engineering drawing, most commonly referred to as engineering graphics, is the art of manipulation of designs of a variety of components, especially those related to engineering. It primarily consists of sketching the actual component, for example a machine, with its exact dimensions. The scale of dimensions is suitably adjusted so as to properly fit within the contours of the drawing sheet.

In some cases, depending in the discipline, there are areas of particular focus, such as in the case of Structural Engineering. Another consideration is in regards to the units of measure used; these could be not only Metric or Imperial, but also the way these are noted is relevant, because it will also reflect the precision of a dimension. Hence, engineering drawing plays a vital role both in manufacture and design, as it not only explains the string of arrangement in a machine, but also tells us about the method to be employed to manufacture the individual blocks.

An engineering drawing not only helps convey ideas and convert concepts into reality, an engineering drawing follows criteria and conventions to eliminate confusion by the the standardization of nomenclature and practices, as a way to clearly relay the information to the individual who understands it when it is read, and very importantly, it indicates or hints how something is going to be manufactured.

BiographyDr. C M Anand Partheeban was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Bharathiar University in 2003. After completing a student apprenticeship with Sri Laxmi vinayaga Industries Ltd and further industrial experience at Sri Balaji & Company, he received his Master degree in Manufacturing Engineering at the Government college of Technology, Coimbatore in 2008 followed by a PhD in composite materials for Wear applications in 2017. Prior to joining United Institute of Technology as a Associate Professor in 2017, he had 12 years experience as a Assistant professor in the various leading engineering colleges in Tamilnadu.
His research interests at UIT have centered around the experimental derivation and numerical implementation of complex models of material and structural behaviour particularly in relation wear deformation, durability assessment and tribological interfaces in machining the materials engineering. He has over 15 International publications on these topics in the literature. He has served as the Lecturer for Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Institute of technology from 2008-13 and being as Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2016 at UIT.
He is a member in number of engineering associations including, IAENG, the IRED, International society for research and development, Asia pacific chemical, Biological &Environmental Engineering society and Science & Engineering Institute(SCIEI).
