In Sanskrit, deepa means “lamp” and avali is “row.” Thus, the name Deepavali refers to the rows of small clay lamps, known in Hindi as diyas, that are lit in homes, temples, and streets during this festival; SOUTH SIKKIM, INDIA: THE BUDDHA PARK OF RAVANGLA - Ravangla is situated at an elevation of 8000 ft. The small picturesque semi town is on the Gangtok-Gaysiling highway.

Not too long ago, I set out to establish a publication unlike any other in India: a dedicated cultural magazine. Fast-forward to today: it’s our six-year anniversary and I couldn’t be more thrilled! In six short years, we - yes, you and I have accomplished a lot. We’ve covered everything from articles on religious leaders all over India to the ancient Indian temples to the forgotten customs of Indian people. What’s more, we have featured many Indian dances, art, games, etc. In addition to giving a voice to the incredible Indian lifestyle, each issue of A TO Z INDIA magazine has explored a wide variety of social and cultural practices.
