Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalBreeding and Farming of the Silver Pomfret Pampus argenteus shares the technical knowledge available so far on the breeding and grow-out production of the most wanted marine food fish, the silver pomfret Pampus argenteus (Euphrasen, 1788) to guide potential entrepreneurs towards establishing commercial Silver Pomfret hatchery and farming system.
Silver Pomfret is a popular fish species in several countries and enjoys high export market demand in India as well as in other countries. Consumption of this marine fish species has immense health benefits such as protection against hyperlipidemia, high cholesterol, coronary atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. The market demand for silver pomfret has increased in recent years because of the decline of fish landings due to overfishing, ecological changes and depleting wild stock.
This book provides in-depth technical knowledge in designing a commercial Recycled Aquaculture System (RAS) for the production of 200 tonnes of marketable size Silver Pomfret per year. Working principles and capacities of different equipment in the production system are described in detail with pictures. In addition to contributing new project ideas for the business communities, the technical descriptions of this book would enlighten the theoretical knowledge of the student communities. The book contains 98 pictures, 8 tables and 156 references.
