Cotyledons A Metaphor for Human Sufferings (Stories)

Author Name: Editor : Dr. Tripti Tyagi | Format: Paperback | Genre : Literature & Fiction | Other Details

Dr. Tripti Tyagi has coined the term 'Stheory', which involves introducing a new idea or theory in a short story. This neologism allows short story writers to develop a philosophical idea on socio-cultural ethics through their works. 'Stheory' can be considered a mechanism for introducing new concepts. In Streaming Theories of Me, Dr. Tyagi explores the idea of men as 'Age Selective' and why men tend to marry much younger women. She also discusses the concept of 'Latent Marital Deception' and how it can lead to 'Manifest Marital Deception'. In Laboratories Dealing Chemicals, she introduces the term 'Proposal Hierarchy', which explores the idea that men have the privilege of proposing to women, while women are expected to wait for men to make the first move. These concepts challenge societal norms in which patriarchy continues to dominate women. Through her short stories, Dr. Tyagi encourages readers to think critically about the world around them and to question established beliefs and practices.

This book also comprises of wonderful stories written by various eminent authors, who have proved that the writers have got vast imagination, incomparably supremely far and away.

Dr. Tripti is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English, Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies. She has a Ph.D. in Comparative Studies in English from the University of Delhi and has published over 16 research papers in National and International Journals. Her areas of interest are Comparative Literature, Anglo Indian Writings, Literary Theory and Criticism, and Indian Histories and Literature. In her book Organic, Dr. Tripti introduces the concept of ‘WON’ as a new term for woman, indicating that a woman can gain victory even in the absence of man's authority. She omits the letters ‘M’ and ‘A’ from the word ‘WOMAN’ to recreate it as ‘WON’ in her poem ‘I am a Won, not a Woman’. In the preface to Organic, she also coins two terms ‘hyper free verse’ and ‘hypo free verse’ for different forms of poetry. ‘Hyper free verse’ goes beyond the word limit in a line, while ‘Hypo free verse’ uses a limited diction in adhering to the fact that verse cannot be hailed as prose. In her book Cotyledons, Dr. Tripti introduces the concept of ‘Stheory’ where short stories can generate new ideas, theories or analysis. She also introduces the term men as 'Age Selective’ for men who long to marry only younger women, rejecting those elder to them. ‘Proposal Hierarchy’ is another term where men more often get the privilege to propose women, with women waiting for men to propose them. Dr. Tripti’s writings present new ideas and evaluate and criticize older concepts and theories. She challenges societal norms and patriarchy, introducing new terminology that addresses issues that have long been ignored. Her work is thought-provoking and invites readers to think beyond the established norms and explore new perspectives.
