Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalCryptocurrency frauds are on the rise. With fluctuating values of cryptocurrencies, lure of very high returns in relatively short period of time has led to an increase in ‘investment scams’. In 2009 the first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, was launched. Ethereum, Tether, USD Coin, Binance Coin, XRP are few other prominent cryptocurrencies. Presently there are numerous types of cryptocurrencies and its popularity is growing. Cryptocurrency frauds are taking different forms. Fraudsters and scammers are finding new ways to dupe gullible investors. Very often they promise to provide astronomical high returns on investments. The fall of the FTX ‘King of Crypto’ Sam Bankman-Fried in 2022 showed the vulnerabilities of the system. This book discusses in detail various aspects of Indian laws which primarily deal with such crypto frauds. Provisions of Indian Penal Code, 1860, Information Technology Act, 2000 and certain other relevant State Acts have also been discussed in detail. Numerous Indian cases of various High Courts and the Supreme Court have been analysed.
