Dr. Abhijit Dam
Dr.Abhijit Dam has been pioneering the cause of palliative medicine and care of rural elderly in the tribal state of Jharkhand and adjoining West Bengal. A post graduate from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, he went ahead to pursue his Masters in Palliative Medicine from Cardiff after securing a Commonwealth scholarship. He has certifications in Advanced Vedanta, Buddhist practices of compassion, ritualistic practices in Hinduism and a mini fellowship from Stanford in Successful Ageing. He has started the first Hospice in a rural setting in India. His expertise lies in working in resource poor situations by optimizing the use of resources that are available locally. His areas of interest are End of life care and its interplay with Religion and Spirituality. He also conducts retreat sessions on ‘Self Care’.
