Gita deals with the science of life. Any science has its own scientific vocabulary. Unless one is reasonably trained in the subject concerned those scientific terms would mean something else for the ordinary guys leading to a defective understanding of the reality. It is the case with Gita as well, and that is why I prefer to call it a dangerous book for the uninitiated. For those who have no knowledge of the basic cconcepts of Vedanta, the contents of Gita would remain either too confusing or often misleading. In ancient times every Brahmin and Kshatriya was initiated into the study of Vedas and Vedanta during their student days. Hence there was no question of any misunderstanding creeping in when the Lord spoke or Arjuna heard the divine sermon. Presently, those who read and try to understand Gita are mostly strangers to the basic concepts of Vedanta. This is the context in which the Lord had to caution us all about the minimum requrements that is necessary to learn Gita as contained in the concluding chapter of this great work.
So, what is special about this work that would make it different from the hundreds of other translations and interpretations authored by several great masters? My attempt is to first initiate the readers into the fundamentals of Hindu Philosophy and then only take up a verse-by-verse study of this great work that would be perfectly in tune with concepts of Vedanta

The author of this book, Sri. Ramachandran Pallath is a retired senior Manager from SBI and has travelled extensively over the subcontinent observing its urban and rural life from close quarters. He keeps a keen interest in literature and philosophy and has authored a few books ranging from fiction to philosophy mainly based on the experiences so gained during his “Life on Road”.
