Dr. Gourdas Choudhuri

Dr. (Prof) Gourdas Choudhuri, MD, DM, FACG, FRCP, FAMS, WHO-fellow, is a medical specialist (Gastroenterologist), teacher, researcher, and columnist.

He graduated from JIPMER, Pondicherry and trained at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, the University of Nagoya, Japan, Volklingen, Germany, and University of Sydney, Australia. During his 42 years as a medical specialist Dr. Choudhuri has been the professor and head of Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi PG Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India, president of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, and has played a leadership role in developing liver and digestive healthcare in the country. 

He strongly believes that awareness on health issues, helps an individual live better and tackle challenges more effectively when they come. His passion led him to create HOPE Initiative (www.hope.org.in) in 2004 through which he campaigned for including health as a component of school education.
