Mr. Hari Pada Roychoudhury of Karimganj, a native of Sylhet of the undivided India, came to India as a street boy after the partition of Bengal. He earned a Master of Science degree and LLB from GU in India and a Ph.D. from UMIST in the United Kingdom. He left the job in the UK and returned to India for the service of his countrymen. He worked at Cotton College as a Professor of Chemistry till retirement. Gandhi had made him a street boy by heading the partition of Bengal.
