Numerous texts were translated during the reign of Songtsen Gampo.  The king himself took a great interest in the translation work and became a scholar. For the first time, some of the Buddhist precepts were incorporated into the laws of the land of Tibet.

Dr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya

Dr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya has born in the village Behira (Kalitala) in Birbum district of West Bengal, India. He did M.A in Philosophy (Gold Medalist), Ph. D degree from Jadavpur University, Diploma in Tibetan (Visva-Bharati), Diploma in Pāli (Calcutta University), a Certificate in Mongolian, and a one-year Manuscriptology course from the Asiatic Society, Kolkata. 

He has worked for twelve years as a senior researcher in the Asiatic Society, the research institute of national importance and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Kolkata.

More than 50 research papers/articles have been published in National / International Research Journals or books by him.
