Nandini Murali
Dr. Nandini Murali is a gender, diversity and communications professional and also an independent researcher in Indic Studies. She has a doctorate in Women’s Studies from the Alagappa University, Karaikudi, and has been engaged with the social sector for more than two decades in the areas of gender, sexuality, masculinities and mental health. In 2018, she established SPEAK, an initiative of MS Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation, Madurai, to change conversations on suicide and promote mental health.
Light and Shadow is her first fiction. Earlier, she had co-authored A Life in Trans Activism published by Zubaan Books, New Delhi. She is currently translating a memoir by a well-known Tamil author and working on another non-fiction.
Passionate about wildlife photography, she loves to wander in the forests with her camera. As part of her efforts to share her passion, she formed Voices of the Wild (VoW) to introduce school children in Madurai to nature and wildlife photography.
