The textbook titled ‘Medical Diagnostics’ is designed according to the CBSE syllabus and consists of the following three units: Unit 1 - Haematology-Process and Investigations, Unit 2 - Blood Bank and Transfusion, and Unit 3- Cytopathology. The first unit chapters describe the general and diagnostics hematology for the analysis of blood plasma, serum, and cells. The chapters of the second unit describe the instruments, equipment, and techniques used in the blood bank and blood transfusion process. The chapters of the third unit describe general techniques, equipment, and procedures of cytopathology, pap smear, buccal smear, cytology and cell blocks, cytological fixatives, staining procedure, etc. The text of this book is useful for class XIIth and graduations (B.Sc, MBBS) and postgraduate (M.Sc, MD) students to learn, understand and develop their skills in Medical Diagnostics.

Dr. Rajneesh Prajapat completed his M.Sc in Biotechnology from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, INDIA in the year 2005. The M.Sc project specialization was completed in the area of “Medical Diagnostics Techniques” from SPAN Diagnostics Ltd., Surat, Gujarat, INDIA. He completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Science, Mody University of Science and Technology, Lakshmangarh, Sikar, Rajasthan (India) under the supervision of Dr. R. K. Gaur.
Dr. Rajneesh Prajapat has 52 international and 11 national publications with 45 sequences in the NCBI database. He also qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ASRB/ CSIR-UGC.
Presently he is working as Senior Lecturer - Medical Diagnostics & Biotechnology at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Vidya vihar, BITS campus, Pilani, Rajasthan, INDIA.

Dr. M. Kasturi is the Principal of Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani, Rajasthan, INDIA joined the school as Principal in January 2006. She has a total of 25 years of service as Principal of CBSE Senior Secondary Schools. Prior to this school, she was the Principal of St Edmund’s School, Malviya Nagar Jaipur for 10 years from 1997 to 2006.
