Ross wrote his first novel The MadGamon at the age of 19 which landed him his first job as a
copywriter in J Walter Thompson, in Mumbai. He continued writing short stories which were
published by various newspapers and magazines in India. He moved on to teaching in a school called
The Scholar from which emanated the Memorex Education System, which he wrote and which
became a bestseller during 1972-1983 with over 500,000 copies sold. His second book helped sell
Bruce Lee’s movie, “Enter the Dragon”, a book titled Black Belt Karate – It can save your life, it sold
over 400,000 copies in the 70s. Ross continued writing books like, “Using the right words” and
“Success Systems”, based on his success story. He was widely written about during the 70s, 80s and
90s, the most prominent being a Times of India article by Dina Vakil (retired editor), who wrote The
gospel according to St Ross, which made him well known in India. Another article in Business India,
called Ross “A walking advertisement for Enterprise” – in a lead story, talking about his various
successes.
Ross launched India’s first mail order company in 1972, Ross Murarka Inc, an astounding success.
He then went on to start a large flower business, “Love is a Rose”, an advertising agency
“Headstart”, (which later became “Headstart Films”), in partnership with his friend. Together, they
made “London Dreams” the movie, in 2010 featuring Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.
