It's the end of term holidays and Grandma has agreed to house sit for her friend. She is joined by Irwan, Intan and Speare Morgan. This is no ordinary house, but a mansion built long ago by a wealthy merchant with a colourful life.

One night, a family friend drops by. He was once a Penglipur Lara, a storyteller. That evening after dinner, he entertains them by telling the story of a mysterious disappearance from within a hidden room in the mansion, which was sealed and forgotten after a tragic event.

Unknown to them, the room hides a bigger secret, one that is linked to the past and a common enemy. Digging deeper into each clue, they uncover the true identity of the Shadow Demon and are shocked when Grand Uncle Dragalileo informs them that the Kingdom of Flames is under threat by a new enemy.

With the approaching of the eclipse, they have one last chance to save the very one that had tried to kill them.

Samantha Manon

Samantha Manon was born on December 12, 1968 in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The Speare Morgan series was inspired by her childhood memories of growing up in Seremban during the 1970s and 1980s. She was fascinated by the historical landmarks throughout the country and drew inspiration from these for her first two books, Mystery of The Sun Sapphire and Mystery of The Abandoned Castle. The manuscript of her third and final book in the Speare Morgan series, The Mysterious Penglipur Lara, was completed just days before she passed away on March 11, 2019. The Speare Morgan Series is a tribute to Samantha’s resilience, creativity and dedication, as she worked passionately to share her most precious memories with the world through the only means she knew–through books. After all, “books are the mirrors of the soul”, as said by Virginia Woolf.
