This book takes a scientific approach to interpreting the Saṃskṛtam verses, using the language of the subtle science of tridoṣa-s, nāḍī-s, pañcaprāṇa-s, marma-s and cakra-s to help us comprehend how the Ṛ ṣ i-s perceived reality. It draws on ancient sciences such as Āyurveda, Tantra, Vāstu and Jyotiṣa Śāstra, as well as modern research studies, offering a comprehensive understanding of the advanced science behind Hindu rituals and traditions. 

Part 1 of this book explains the daily rituals called Āhnika Dharma, which includes Dehalī pūjā, Svastika & Raṅgavallī (sanctifying the entrance), Śaucācāra (purificatory rites), Ācamana (ritual sipping of water), Dantadhāvanam (cleaning the teeth), Goseva (taking care of cows), Snānam (bathing), Vastra dharana (wearing clothes), Śayana and Saṃyogācara (sleeping and sexual intercourse) and a few others. Additionally, Part 1 provides details on women’s role in daily rituals such as Agnikriyā, Arghyadānaṃ, Deva pūjā, Vaiśvadeva, Athiti pūjā, and Bali. Scientific explanations of the various practices that are part of Śṛṅgāraṃ, such as the use of tilak, kuṅkuma, sindūr, mangalsūtra, nose and ear ornaments, toe rings and anklets, etc. are also included in Part 1.

Sinu Joseph is the author of ‘Women and Sabarimala’, ‘Ṛtu Vidyā’ and ‘Varṇa Vidyā’, which describe the science behind the traditional rules and restrictions for Hindu women. She holds a BE degree and chose to work in the social and developmental space. Although she has worked across diverse social sectors, her primary work has been in the area of women’s health and spirituality.

She has undertaken extensive action research in the areas of women’s health since 2009 through various NGOs and travelled across Bhārat, interacting with thousands of adolescent girls and women directly, to get a first-hand experiences of their practices and belief systems. Her primary area of work has been in the field of menstrual health. Her popular book ‘Ṛtu Vidyā: Ancient Science behind Menstrual practices’ has brought forth a unique narrative, which is the Bhāratiya perspective on menstruation.

Sinu has visited several Hindu temples and studied Hindu religious practices to understand how they impact women’s health. Her books unravel the advanced scientific knowledge lying hidden in the culture and religious practices of Sanātana Dharma. The Strī Dharma Paddhatiḥ is her fourth book, and she considers it as her most important work so far.
