Alice K. Jose
Mrs. Alice K. Jose, a Malayali, was born and bred in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She had been in the teaching field for four decades including seven years as Principal of Higher Secondary Schools. Starting her career in Coimbatore she had also worked in Mettur, Madras (now Chennai), Salem and Bangalore.
Born in 1946, she graduated (B.A. Economics) from Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore in 1965. She did her post- graduation (M.A. English Literature) in Government Arts College, Coimbatore and became a Lecturer in English in Sri Avinashilingam Home Science College for Women in the same city. She served there for seven years from 1969 to 1976. She completed her B.Ed. in 1983.
Deeply inspired by Gandhiji’s life, Mrs. Jose had consciously spread the Mahatma’s principles among countless students. Sura’s Concise English-English-Tamil Dictionary, compiled by her was published in 1989 and is still in the market. For the past many years, she has been writing on social and religious issues, some of which have been published in dailies and weeklies. They are in the net, too. (http://alicekjose.blogspot.com).
