Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalEverything seemed like a beautiful dream, beautiful, calm, and out of the world, like an early morning stroll along the beach. The feeling was mutual. But somewhere along the road, she fell; she fell face-first. An accident or she had tripped, she thought. A few steps later, she fell again. Something was not right. She stretched her hand to be picked when she fell again. This time she understood that she hadn’t fallen but had been knocked down. Too exhausted to pick herself up, she lay there with her face covered in sand. The waves that touched her mocked her and some informed they had warned her earlier.
She wanted to give up but thought it would be futile. When she opened her eyes, he was gone, with someone else. She learnt to pick herself up this time. She understood what fighting back was. She dusted off her bruises and brushed off her wounds and started walking, alone. She had come very, very far. She looked back and smiled, knowing what she had become.
Surrogate Girlfriend!
Devna
Superficially, she is a sweet, delicate soul, who would befriend you in an instant. Within, she is as hard as a diamond. A self-made person, who is a misfit in today’s way of life, Devna is someone who has mastered the art of turning pain to power. She walks undeterred, heads up against all odds and sits down to write about them. Also, with the soul of a gypsy and the feet of a wanderer, staying rooted to a place is a tad too difficult for Devna. She is like an un-caged, free bird that aims to soar to new heights.
Besides, she believes in karma – both good and bad. She often reminds people of the same showing her tattoo that reads karma on her forearm. When she is not on the streets capturing moments to permanence or trying out new restaurants, she spends her time planning for another voyage.
