Fifteen short stories set in old Travancore of the fifties: The narratives range from an elopement which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, friendship with an imaginary ghost, tragic death of a poor girl to a brave old lady who tames a rogue elephant. There is a chase by a lone tusker and hunt for a wild boar. In one story, the daughter of a village restaurant owner, comes to his rescue when his business flounders, employing creative marketing. In another, a long-lost childhood girl friend is traced to an unknown town after many years. There is a beloved teacher who nurtures an immature student, and a smart elder sister whose talent and competence makes the younger brother worship her.

Love, affection, warmth and friendship without malice are the key factors.

Joy Kutty

Joy Kutty is a retired Senior Executive from an MNC. He has an engineering degree from Trivandrum Engineering College and joined as a trainee engineer in the mid-sixties. He retired as a VP of Saint Gobain, France.

He has widely travelled all over the world in connection with his business and interacted with people from different nationalities. After retirement, he self-taught himself computer graphics and rudimentary animation.

This is his first attempt at writing short stories.
