His thoughts take him to his childhood in Punjab, India, during the tumultuous year of 1984, marred with death and violence. He relays the turmoil, his rocky relationship with his mother, and the lack of emotion from his father, all while coping with the terror of his surroundings.
Tangled in 1984 is a work of fiction written against a backdrop of historical events and borrowing from experiences of growing up in Punjab in the eighties that left many families scarred for life. Navigating through the devastation, the book sheds light on the human spirit of survival and lends some hope for peace.

AJAY KHANNA was born in Patiala, India, and moved to the US in 1999. Tangled in 1984 is his first novel. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he works as a marketing executive. Ajay was trained as a mechanical engineer. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and a master's in business administration from Santa Clara University.
