Dr A Antony
Antony was born in a lower middle class family in a small village, in Kerala on 13th June, 1938. He had his primary and secondary education in the Local Vernacular School and his collegiate education in Fatima Mata National College. After graduation, he became a teacher in Saint Antony‘s High School in 1958. During this period, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from Kerala University and a master’s degree in English from BHU. In 1963, he became a lecturer in his alma mater, then a professor and the head of the department of English. Upon his retirement, The University of Kerala appointed him the principal of its Teacher Education College at Kollam, where he worked for twenty years. He has written ten books dealing with various aspects of education and the teaching profession. His rich background in English literature, philosophy and social issues and teaching have immensely helped his writing career. Two of his books have been translated into Malayalam and one of them is published by the Language Institute, Government of Kerala. He is happily married to Annamma, who is a pillar of support to him.
