Bandi Narayana Swamy

Narayana Swamy is a novelist well-known in the Andhra and Telangana regions. 

Sapthabhoomi, the original title in Telugu published in 2017 was received enthusiastically by readers, film directors, and literary critics who describe it as the “Indian Game of Thrones”. In 2019, it received National Sahitya Akademi Award.

Critics compare his style to that of a Spanish novelist, Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s magic realism. Mr. Swamy is acclaimed as a master storyteller and is known for his ease in employing diverse stylistic techniques. 

Intellectually, he is a philosopher on the condition of oppressed Dalits. Politically, he is an activist for a separate Rayalaseema State.  

Spiritually, he follows the philosophy of Bhagawan Sri Ramana Maharshi of Arunachala. 

Narayana Swamy was born in 1952 in Anantapuram in the Rayalaseema region. His grandfather was a railway gangman, and his father was a teacher and a farmer. 

Narayana Swamy worked as a government school teacher in several remote rural areas. He retired in 2010.
