Anil 'Windie' was born and raised in a small village, Kotgarh, District Shimla, in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh. He did his schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog, Shimla, and Canacona, South Goa. He pursued his graduation in Veterinary and Animal Sciences from Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur. He worked as a Veterinary Officer in different parts of District Shimla and the tribal District Kinnaur. Along with his professional obligations as a field veterinarian, he revels in exploring remote, less accessible regions of hill state as an amateur trekker. He is well versed in the perils and difficulties of living in mountainous terrain. He is a relentless blogger and a few of his articles have been published in Wildlife Week magazine. He is a firm believer that 'exploration' is deeply ingrained in human beings' very own existence. He is always vocal about the conservation of the fragile Himalayan ecosystem and the livelihood of its inhabitants. This is his first work in literature. Presently he lives in Rampur Bushahar, Himachal Pradesh.
