Taking the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi as his case, the author discusses the role of Gandhi's leadership during two significant events; the ethnic problem in Sri Lanka and the signing of the Intermediate Nuclear Force Treaty.

Sadanand Hadagali

Dr. Sadanand.H.Hadagali  has worked as an Officer of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, Government of India. He obtained his postgraduate degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Philosophy and was awarded a Ph.D. degree from Karnatak University.  He has academic interests and has also been a part of various seminars and conferences held in different parts of the country. He contributed an essay to the book "Contemporary Indian Politics: Internal Dynamics and External Compulsions" (Edited). He served as the Joint Secretary (Southern Zone) of the All India Association of Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers and also served as the Vice-President of the Karnataka Unit.

 He is a social activist on many forums, like crusading against corruption and ushering in fast changes. He has a vision for the development of backward areas of North Karnataka and is working as Vice-Chairman of, the North Karnataka Development Initiative. Though the author is from a non-academic background but still has exhibited his resolve to demonstrate the value of the academic knowledge he has received to bring out academic rigor in his analysis. The author continues to work on issues related to foreign policy in the present day as well.
