The British arrests Kannavath Sankaran Nambiar (prime minister of Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja) and the two young boys – his son and nephew – who are escorting him. They are taken to the execution platform near Kannavam. The troop, led by Lt. Edward, wants to know where the rogue king is hiding out. It becomes clear that the only way out for Nambiar and the boys is to tell them where Pazhassi is.

Abijit Radhakrishna is an assistant professor, author, and film critic. His works include Waking Up the Vermin, Kill the Girl, Impressions, and Ride Back Home. He has also co-edited the 2021 anthology, Poe in Quarantine: Selected Works of Edgar Allan Poe, and edited Montage: A Collection of Contemporary Poetry and Prose. He has worked in the English departments of reputable private and government-aided institutions in Kerala. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in English Language and Literature from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.
