H.B Buchanan’s love for local history and culture as well as its complexities, Towlar’s audacity, Bhup Singh’s technical acumen, Fullerton's farsightedness, Lady Flemming’s compassion and many more also play an equally important role in that journey. Some of the incidents in this novel are based on real-life incidents.

HIMADRI SHIKHAR DUTTA

Shri Himadri Shikhar Dutta is a retired officer of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited. After passing out as a Chemical Engineer with honours from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, he joined the erstwhile Assam Oil Company at Digboi Refinery.  Subsequently, the Assam Oil Company was taken over by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited.

Shri Dutta holds more than three decades of experience in refinery operations and was in charge of crude oil import and transportation through ships. He retired from services in 2018 as Chief General Manager.

Right from his childhood, Shri Dutta had a keen interest in literary activities. He was associated with several socio-cultural organisations during his service. He has acted in several plays viz. Kripabor Barooar Pratyabartan, Balia Hati, Siraj, Rupalim, Court Marshall, Setubandhan, etc. He has also written and directed several plays. 

The River of Liquid Gold is the English version of his already published Assamese novel Poniya Xonor Noi.
