Veena Apte
Veena Apte has been nurturing the art of creating art out of wax for the last fifteen years. She has held nine exhibitions in Thane city and had a program aired on television. She got formal training in candle making from Jilha Udyog Kendra. She holds many workshops and teaches at various institutions.
Her passion for wax art stems from her aunt, who used to make various wax items by melting wax candles and using molds made of jowar flour or clay. She says “I am fond of Wax Art, as wax as an element never goes waste. I particularly like its reusable quality. While making any Wax art there is bound to be a mess, but when you see the end product you realize it is worth the effort.”
In addition to being a wax artist Veena works full time and manages her household. She attributes her ability to manage all three parts of her life to time management and the support of her family. She wrote this book with the idea in mind that even though wax art is a hobby for her she hopes that it will be a means of livelihood for someone.
