भारतीय स्वजगारण इस अर्थ में और भी महत्वपूर्ण है कि यह अपने विस्तार में पूरे भारत में देखने को मिलता है । भाषा,रहन-सहन,जातिगत आग्रह और क्षेत्र की सीमाओं से परे जाकर भारतीय समाज ने अपने स्व की प्राप्ति के निमित्त संगठित प्रयास किया । इस स्वजगारणके अनेक चरण देखने को मिलते हैं। स्वजगारण के विविध चरणों पर दृष्टिपात करना आजादी के अमृत महोत्सव पर प्रासंगिक ही नहीं अपरिहार्य है ।
