Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalIndian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (IAPS) have come out with standard treatment guidelines (STG) after a reasonably broad consensus of pediatric surgeons representing different geographical areas of the country. This STG shall act as a guide to bring in some uniformity in practice while allowing variations in care needed as per the local setup. They form the basic principles without going into specifics of classifications or dosages.
It has also been useful as a hand book/ bedside guide in pediatric surgical departments and PICUs. Pediatric surgical nurses and allied health science personnel have found the document to be of practical help in the bedside management. In addition to pediatric surgeons, this document can also be helpful to the treating paediatrician, neonatologists and obstetricians for counselling patients before referral to a pediatric surgeon.
