The book includes the empirical analysis of key aspects of urban finances (municipal revenue and expenditure) collected from various municipalities and financial performance of respective municipalities is projected by trend analysis. An analysis of revenue performance due to tax revision of municipalities is done with ANOVA test. Also, expenditure performance after pay revision of municipalities is analyzed through ANOVA test. The parameters such as financial dependency and centralization of municipalities are also compared. An attempt is made to analyze the financial parameters on the basis of population of municipality categories and tried to identify the possibilities to tap the additional resources of the municipalities. The book will provide adequate information on the property tax right from the assessment to the performance analysis to the policy makers, administrators, academicians, experts and public.

r.P.Tamizhselvan is an Associate Professor [Financial Management], in Tamil Nadu Institute of Urban Studies, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Tamil Nadu Institute of Urban Studies is a recognized research institution of Government of Tamil Nadu. Professor Tamizhselvan received his Ph.D in Commerce with Finance specialization from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Prof Tamizhselvan has taught in B.Com, M.Com., M.C.A., M.Sc., M.B.A., and Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Financial Accounting and Management. More than 25 years of academic experience in Commerce and Management fields. Dr.R.Swaminathan has obtained Engineering degree from Madurai Kamaraj University, MBA from Annamalai University, APGDUM (Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Management) from YASHADA, Pune, Mumbai University and Doctorate in Management from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He has been serving in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply department (MA&WS department), Government of Tamil Nadu for the past 28 years and focused on Urban Poverty, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission - Housing, Slum development, E-governance activities, Urban finance, Swachh Bharat Mission and other urban related projects. He had an exposure visit to China to study the urban development projects and infrastructure planning as a part of APGDUM. The exposure visit was sponsored by the Government of Tamil Nadu. He published three research papers on urban finance and property tax in Journals, viz., International Journal of Latest Research in Humanities and Social Sciences (IJLRHSS), Research Review Journal, and Journal of Contemporary Research in Management (JCRM).
