The author is a former corporate professional, born in Kolkata of mixed racial parentage, father from U.P. ,mother half English and half Spanish. He married a city girl Smita (Gujarati) in Mumbai, following in the footsteps of his siblings who are all over the globe & married into different communities, religions & languages. The next generations added spouses from Australia to the US of A, and many countries in between.

Years of world travel have taken him from the mysterious Isle of Anglesey to the Forests of Sabah, the deserts of the Sinai, North Africa high lands of Lalibela, Axum, Gondor, to Mediterranean countries, Nepalese Himalayas, he learned to ride an elephant in Chitwan & count tigers in Bandhavgarh, while writing stories on the fauna, culture & customs of different regions.

The grandfather of two beautiful granddaughters, their incessant need to hear accounts of his travels gave birth to the magical planet of Doryu; a place where he plays out all their fantastic dreams. A place every child loves to live, learn & grow  their imagination.  From Zoom sessions during the lock down, The Adventures on Doryu became a storytelling Video on Demand event on Insider.in. With great visual effects,  footage and great sound FX, now his audience has grown to include their friends & other kids from across India, US and Indonesia. In January we celebrated one year of 12 episodes !

He teamed up with Art Director, Saurabh Shrivastava, to recreate the series in picture book format. It was a demand by the children to acquire a hard copy account of every episode.

Saurabh, a friend of the author for more than 40 years. He thinks beyond thoughts creating visual stories. From an itsy-bitsy Sinclair Spectrum, he added 256 kb RAM and a cassette player as a storage device & enjoyed programming in BASIC & playing games. He went on to the x86 series and then on from his bedroom to the classroom. . . he acquainted himself with C & C++ / Artificial Intelligence and a lot else.

In ’92 he got involved in developing a design institute since then Saurabh creates visual stories as a visual designer. He loves that his creations translate ideas into something he can see and eventually smell the freshness of the printed version. Wasn’t long before he fell in love with photography…he captures all that happens around him. . . . he is drawn to anything that seems odd, out of place …..and now they say, “it’s just about being SAURABH”.
