40 Something Two Solo Acts

Author Name: Mrinal Mathur | Format: Paperback | Genre : Literature & Fiction | Other Details

These are two solo act plays that express the fears and frailties of middle-aged men; in a wicked way. In ‘#metoo?,’ the 40 something protagonist rants about the movement to come out, shame and attack sexual predators. He is scared that this empowerment can lead to women destroying men over imagined, alleged or misunderstood incidents. Is he worried about men in general or himself? Is he as vulnerable as he appears or is he a pervert? Is he a victim or a culprit?

The second solo act play, ‘what lies?’ is the narrative of another 40 something man. He is dying of cancer and decides to leave behind some video messages for his young children. He hopes the messages will guide them on what lies ahead in their lives, and, help in remembering him. Does he have something worth sharing? Is he worthy, of sharing these messages?

Any solo act is a challenge. These plays will challenge the actor to have the courage to discover the protagonists' truth as they journey through the apparent fears, the dark desires and smothered vanities of men as they age into their forties!

Mrinal Mathur

Mrinal Mathur was an ideal student in school and college. He is an MBA, with over twenty years of experience in the corporate world. He has teenage kids. He has lived all his life with his parents. Because of all this, he ended up playing several roles – teacher’s pet, mamma’s boy, sycophant, tyrant, henpecked husband, fussy dad - foolish dad - uncool dad (in that order). His performances have been, depending on the situation, politically correct, diplomatic and opaque, as well as dramatic, blusterous and loud. All this acting finally got to him a year ago, and he joined the world of theatre. He has acted in four productions since then.

40 Something is his debut as a playwright.
